Nichole Price, Emily Kelly, Maggie Johnson, and Jill Harris spent the week at UCSB for a workshop on Ocean Acidification.  The Smith Lab is a member of a new UC-wide consortium of marine scientists working together to understand, study, and measure ocean acidification. Ocean acidification, sometimes called “the other CO2 problem,” is a result of the ocean absorbing increasing amounts of CO2 in our atmosphere.  Changing ocean water chemistry has major affects on marine life.
